Making the Hillyard Experience Sustainable and Environmentally Friendly

Guests from oversees and from across the island of Ireland increasingly expect hospitality businesses to operate with minimum impact on the environment and to actively demonstrate green practices and carbon reduction activities.

We recognise our responsibility to work towards a sustainable future that can be enjoyed by all. As one of the leading boutique hotels in the region, we continue to focus on providing a great hotel experience (accommodation, restaurant and bar) and we will also continuously consider our impact on the environment.

After reviewing best practice and engaging with guests, management and our staff, we have created a Sustainability Green Business Policy to help us to operate all aspects of our business in a long-term sustainable way that minimises our impact on the beautiful natural environment that we are part of here in Castlewellan, County Down.

Our initial goal is to achieve the Internationally recognised Green Tourism Bronze accreditation. We will do this by implementing our Sustainability policy across three key areas: People, Places and Planet.
